The Leland B. Yeager Reading Group in Economics is a competitive opportunity for sophomores, juniors, and seniors at Brockport interested in political economy. The reading group meets for one hour each week (Mondays at 12:20 pm) and is worth one hour of course credit. The book is provided free of charge for accepted students thanks to a generous grant from the Institute for Humane Studies. The LBY Reading Group is an excellent way to hone critical thinking skills and explore interesting topics in social science in a safe discussion environment with other students. In Fall 2026, we'll be reading "Natural Justice", by Ken Binmore. The book is an exploration of moral philosophy from an economic perspective, by a leading game theorist. We will explore, among other things, the tensions between self-interest and morality, and between the individual and society. Can game theory convincingly resolve these tensions? Let's explore!
