The Pettis Business Idea competition is open to any Brockport student or team of students currently enrolled as an undergraduate. You don’t need to be a major in the School of Business and Management, but you must be a full-time matriculated Brockport student. The total prize pool is $2500 to be divided up in any fashion the finalist judges decide – could be one $2500 winner or any number of winners at various amounts. The competition will be held in two rounds. Round one is a written submission on this form. Each entrant or team will answer the questions below on this form and hit submit. The deadline for entries is March 9th at 5 PM. Judging will be done by local businesspeople, faculty and staff selected by the Dean of the School of Business and Management. Finalists will be selected to present their business idea, and they will be notified on March 25th. Scholars’ Day presentation will be at McCue Auditorium on April 14th starting at 9 AM. If selected, you will have up to 15 minutes to present your idea and answer questions from the judges. Your presentation will be about your idea and roughly follow the questions below. Think Shark Tank – not term paper. Here is a link to a short YouTube recording that might help you answer these questions and prepare for the competition: Pettis video.
