The Leadership Development Program has exciting volunteer opportunities!

Mentoring & Advising
LDP Mentor: SUNY Brockport’s signature Leadership Development Program is expanding, and we are seeking staff and faculty interested in being paired with students participating in the program. LDP provides a mentor for all Green (Level 1) students. This is an opportunity to get to know students outside of your department or area and develop a relationship to support them on their leadership journey. Students meet with their mentors at least three times to receive certification, though they are encouraged to continue meeting and building a relationship throughout their leadership journey.
Club Advisor: All BSG clubs on campus must have an active staff or faculty advisor. Students are often in need of someone to support their club but don’t know where to find someone. We are looking to add your name to a pool of those interested and willing to support.

Facilitator/Moderator
Leadership workshops (LDP): Our leadership workshops incorporate experiential learning and interactive activities to get students actively engaged in learning about who they are, how they show up, their values, and how their life experience shapes their involvement. Green workshops focus on exploring students' individual identities, values, and goals.
Deliberative Dialogues: Our Civic Engagement program’s signature deliberative dialogues model equip students to engage in difficult conversations about issues that can feel divisive. Moderators learn how to use the model to stimulate and support difficult dialogue.

Partnerships and Collaborations
Collaborate to offer Leadership Workshops: Are you or is your department presenting a workshop or planning an event that supports students' leadership development? We may be able to offer LDP credit for their attendance. The LDP program is looking to partner with you to support students’ path to certification
Presentations in your classroom and integration into your syllabus: Encourage students to join LDP, get involved in community service and support civic engagement. The Leadership and Community team can come into your classroom and present on any of these topics of interest. Further, you can support our programming by offering incentives or rewards to students who participate.
Cohort-based Social Action Projects for Gold-level Certification: The Gold-level of the LDP program is based on exploring one’s leadership development while engaging in social action and working with a team. The LDP program is looking to partner with programs and departments across campus who work with teams of students to support social action and leadership development while gaining gold-level certification.

Leadership Committees:
Leadership Conference Planning Committee: Interested in supporting the annual Leadership Conference? We are looking for volunteers to support in all aspects of conference planning and execution – from logistical elements such as outreach and schedule to supporting content development (workshops, panels, keynote, theme, etc.).
Leadership Awards Selection Committee: Every year, students are recognized for their leadership across campus and their achievements. If you’re interested in helping to support students’ leadership and civic engagement, consider joining one of the many award selection committees such as the Marion Schrank Leadership Award and the Chancellor's Award for Student Excellence to review applications and select the winners.
