Leland B. Yeager Reading Group Fall 2023 Application

The Leland B. Yeager Reading Group is a competitive opportunity for sophomores, juniors, and seniors at Brockport interested in political economy. The reading group meets for one hour each week (Mondays at 12:20 pm) and is worth one hour of course credit. The book is provided free of charge for accepted students thanks to a generous grant from the Institute for Humane Studies.

The LBY Reading Group is an excellent way to hone critical thinking skills and explore interesting topics in social science in a safe discussion environment with other students. In Fall 2023, we'll be reading the book Why We Fight: The Roots of War and the Paths to Peace, by Christopher Blattman. The book explores the causes of war and peace, drawing on the author's research in locations around the world, including Medellin, Chicago, Liberia, and Northern Ireland.
