  • Proud Eagles

Proud Eagles is a LGBTQIA+ and Ally mentorship program. This is not a separate program, rather, it is a component of LDP and students will be responsible for completing their LDP obligations as well as participating in Proud Eagles. If you choose to participate, you will be a LDP mentor for a Proud Eagles participant. You will be paired with a mentee based on shared identities and lived experiences. Proud Eagles will have 2 -3 workshops per semester that students will attend in addition to LDP workshops. There will also be one community service opportunity each semester at a LGBTQIA+ focused organization in the Western New York area.

  • Talon Academy

The Talon Academy is an initiative for men of color with the purposes of guiding and supporting their personal, academic, and professional success. The mission of the Talon Academy is to enhance the graduation and success rates for Brockport’s male population through academics, enrichment, and encouragement. To achieve this mission, students will connect with a mentor, participate in purposeful workshops, formulate their leadership abilities, and create a trusted community.

Men of Color: The first-year goal of Talon Academy is to discuss the intersections of race and masculinity along with its connection to self. The preference is that Talon Academy mentors identify as a male of color, Black, Hispanic, Latinx, American Indian, or Biracial. So that first and second-year students can feel some comfort during those deep discussions.
