Rochester Area Colleges Continuing Education (RACCE) Outstanding Adult Student Award Nomination Form

We need your help to recognize Outstanding Adult Students! Please consider nominating an exceptional adult student you know, for the annual Rochester Area Colleges Continuing Education (RACCE) consortium’s Outstanding Adult Student Award. The selection of these students is sponsored by the Rochester Educational Opportunity Center (REOC) and will be made by the selection committee. Three award recipients, two (2) from SUNY Brockport and one (1) from the REOC, will be celebrated at RIT's University Gallery on April 5, recognizing these students among the Rochester Area Colleges outstanding adult students. This honor is extremely validating to our often unrecognized, extraordinary adult students.

The RACCE consortium seeks to recognize and honor students who have been especially successful at combining college study with their other responsibilities of family, job, career, and community service. We receive extensive media coverage and great interest in the “stories” of these adult learners. Traditionally, there is wide college interest in identifying our outstanding adult students and those selected are, indeed, a credit to their departments and to our institutions.

Please take the time to complete the nomination form for a student worthy of this honor and who meets all of the criteria stated on the nomination form. Have the student return a completed biographic information form and statement to you by 12 pm, Wednesday, February 22, 2023 and submit the nomination form in its entirety, no later than 3 pm, Friday, February 24, 2023.

Criteria for SUNY Brockport Nominees

(The committee will only consider students meeting ALL criteria.)

1) Matriculated graduate and undergraduate students are eligible. Graduate students must have completed 15 credit hours of graduate work at SUNY Brockport; undergraduate students must have completed 75 credit hours, at least 15 of which are at SUNY Brockport.

2) Nominee must have a minimum 3.25 cumulative GPA for all work completed at SUNY Brockport.

3) Nominee may be either a full or part-time student, but must be enrolled at SUNY Brockport during either Fall 2022 or Spring 2023, or both, and must be 25 or older.

4) Nominee who has been or is especially successful at combining college study with other responsibilities including all of the following: family, job/career, and community service.

5) An administrator, faculty member, or staff member at SUNY Brockport may nominate students.
Criteria for REOC Nominees

(The committee will only consider students meeting ALL criteria.)

1) Nominee must have completed or be currently enrolled in an REOC certificate program and be in good standing during the 2022-2023 academic year.

2) Nominee must have a minimum 3.25 cumulative GPA for all work completed at REOC.

3) Nominee must have or have had a minimum of 90% attendance in each required course at REOC.

4) Nominee must be at least 25 years of age or older.

5) Nominee must have been or is especially successful at combining academic/vocational study with other responsibilities including all of the following: family, job/career, and community service.

6) An adminstrator, faculty member, or staff member at REOC may nominate students.
